About

Dr. Veerpratap Meena (M’21, IEEE) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jamshedpur, India. He received his B.Tech. degree in Electrical Engineering from Govt. Engineering College, Bikaner, India, in 2018, followed by an M.Tech. degree in Power System Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, India, in 2020. He completed his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT), Jaipur, India, in 2023, and subsequently pursued a postdoctoral fellowship at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Bengaluru, India, in 2024. Dr. Meena has been actively engaged with IEEE through various leadership roles. He is currently serving as the Student Chapter Educational Program Subcommittee Chair (2025–2027), supporting global IEEE student engagement and educational development initiatives. Previously, he served as the Chair of the IEEE Systems Council Systems Education Technical Committee, USA, from 2023 to 2025. He also holds key leadership positions within the IEEE Delhi Section and Rajasthan Subsection, including Chair of the IEEE Delhi Section–Rajasthan Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society Chapter and the IEEE Systems Council Joint Section Chapter. He is currently working as an External Collaborator with the USD AI Research, University of South Dakota, USA, contributing to advanced interdisciplinary research initiatives in artificial intelligence and smart energy systems.

Dr. Meena’s research interests include microgrids, renewable energy integration, power electronics, optimization, artificial intelligence, machine learning, smart grids, net-zero energy systems, electric vehicles, control systems, peer-to-peer energy trading, and healthcare applications. He has published extensively, with over 120+ research papers in leading international journals and conferences, and has also authored two books in the areas of smart energy systems, power electronics, and emerging technologies. He serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE Access, e-Prime: Advances in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Energy, Discover Applied Sciences, and other reputed journals. Dr. Meena is also highly active in organizing international IEEE conferences and technical events. He has served as General Chair, Program Chair, Special Session Organizer, and Technical Program Committee Member for several prestigious conferences. Notably, he is the Founder of the IEEE international conference series ICE2CPT and AIEI, which aim to promote cutting-edge research and innovation in electrical engineering, energy systems, and emerging technologies. He has organized special sessions at major global conferences, including IECON, ISIE, AUPEC, SGRE, ICIT, SYSCON, GPECOM, CPE-PowerEng, and IAS Annual Meetings. As a keynote speaker, he has delivered expert talks at various international forums, sharing insights on advanced topics in smart energy systems and modern electrical engineering technologies. In recognition of his outstanding research contributions, Dr. Meena was listed among the world’s top 2% of scientists by Stanford University and Elsevier in both 2024 and 2025. He continues to drive innovation through research excellence, academic leadership, and active participation in global scientific and professional communities.
