About
Dr. Sorokhaibam Laxmi Gayatri is currently working as an Assistant Professor in Department of Chemistry of Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology Nagpur since February 2015. Prior to VNIT , she spent more than 2 years at CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory Pune as a Research Associate on CSIR five year planned project," Sustainable Environmental Technologies for Chemical & Allied Industries". There she worked on development of new materials and material modification for Environmental applications like Desulfurization of Transportation fuels and Industrial wastewater Treatment.
Dr. Gayatri has B.Sc.(Hons) from Manipur University, and a PhD from National Institute of Technology Silchar. She has worked extensively in interdisplinary areas relating to Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. She has succesfully applied several biomass based adsorbents towards the removal of phenolic compounds from aqueous phase through adsorption process. Her work is concerned with development of techno-economically feasible techniques for wastewater treatment which can solve the problem of Indian industries in their ever increasing demand for freshwater by providing recycle and re-use option through systematic development of several methodologies and Process Integration.
