About

I am Dr. Nur Islam Saikh, Assistant Professor at a private B.Ed. College and a Researcher in Geography (Earth Science, Geography and Environment Management). I earned my Ph.D. in Geography from Raiganj University in March 2026. My doctoral research, titled “Exploring the Eco-geomorphological Conditions of the Pagla River Basin, West Bengal and Jharkhand, India,” focused on assessing eco-geomorphological conditions through the integration of Remote Sensing and GIS, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and GeoAI techniques.
My research focuses on Ecology, Geomorphology, and Hydrology, including Ecological Vulnerability Assessment, Hydro-Geomorphic Sensitivity Mapping, Eco-Geomorphological Stability Mapping, Ecosystem Health Assessment, Deforestation Probability Mapping, Flood Hazards Mapping, Soil Erosion Mapping and Assessment, Runoff and Discharge Data Analysis for Future Prediction, Rainfall Trends Analysis, and the Application of Remote Sensing and GIS, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Multi-Criteria Decision-Making Models (AHP, TOPSIS, VORS framework) for Sustainable Watershed management.

I have been awarded the Senior Research Fellowship in Earth Sciences by CSIR-HRDG, New Delhi, and also Associate Coordinator of the ISRO-IIRS Outreach Program. I am also an active Reviewer for International Journals and work on integrating Geospatial Technologies, Machine Learning, AI, and MCDM approaches for Environmental Modelling, Sustainable Environmental Planning, Disaster Risk Assessment, and Mitigation.

My primary Research interests focus on Disaster Mapping and Analysis for Sustainable Environmental Planning and Mitigation at Regional and the Global Scale.
