About

I am a geophysicist specializing in earthquake seismology, seismic anisotropy, and lithospheric deformation, with a strong focus on understanding the geodynamics of tectonically active regions. I completed my PhD on “Lithospheric Deformation and Geodynamics of the Indo-Burmese Range and Surroundings: Evidence from Seismic Anisotropy,” where I investigated the deformation patterns and mantle flow processes beneath one of the most complex plate boundary regions in Southeast Asia.
My doctoral research was based on the analysis of large teleseismic datasets recorded by broadband seismic stations and primarily employed shear-wave splitting of core-refracted phases (XKS) to characterize the nature, orientation, and depth extent of seismic anisotropy. By examining both null and non-null measurements and their back-azimuthal variations, my work provided insights into the relative roles of lithospheric fabric, asthenospheric flow, and subduction-related dynamics beneath the Indo-Burmese Range.
Currently, I am working as a Senior Project Associate at CSIR–North East Institute of Science and Technology (CSIR-NEIST), Jorhat, under the project titled “Assessment and Mitigation Strategy for Geo-Hazards in the Himalaya (AMOGH).” In this role, I am involved in seismic data analysis, interpretation of crust–mantle structure, and geohazard-related studies aimed at improving our understanding of seismic risk in the Himalayan region.
My research experience includes broadband seismic data processing, waveform analysis, shear-wave splitting, receiver function studies, and geophysical visualization using tools such as ObsPy, MATLAB, SeisPy, and Python-based workflows. I am particularly interested in integrating seismic observations with regional tectonics and geodynamic models to better understand the coupling between deep Earth processes and surface deformation.
Through my work, I aim to contribute to advancing our understanding of lithospheric deformation, mantle dynamics, and seismic hazards in active tectonic regions, with an emphasis on scientifically robust and societally relevant geoscience research.
