About
At present working as a Scientist in Materials Science Division (MSD) of Materials Group, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai, India. I joined BARC through one of the prestigious scholarships in India, K. S. Krishnan Research Associateship (KSKRA), in November 2018. Current research involves studying structural materials used in nuclear power plants at near atomic spatial resolution using techniques like atom probe tomography (APT) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Systems currently working on are based on Zr-Nb alloys and Fe and Ni-based alloys. In addition, actively involved in training new generation of atom probers in India with the help of number of talks and webinars. Here’s a brief history of my research activities in last few years,
After completing Master’s in Physics (in July 2007), I worked as a research fellow at field emission and field ionization microscopy (FEM-FIM) laboratory in Department of Physics, University of Pune, India for the period of 3 years. During this period, worked on number of interesting problems related to the field electron emission from nano-heterostructures. Indigenously built an ultra-high vacuum (UHV) system with load-lock capabilities to study the field electron emission properties of the 1-dimensional nanostructures.
Owing to the first-hand experience in high-field nanoscience, in October 2012, I moved to Rouen, France (Groupe de Physique des Matériaux (GPM), Université de Rouen) to pursue Ph.D. in Atom Probe Tomography (APT) and successfully defended the thesis in January 2016. The prime objective of the thesis was to understand the interaction of the Laser light with the nanoscale tip-shaped samples used in APT and use this knowledge to improve the data quality in APT experiment.
In April of 2017, I moved to Gothenburg, Sweden (Materials and Microstructure Division, Chalmers University of Technology) for post-doctoral research, where I utilized the fundamental understandings of APT to the real-life problems in materials science. During this period, I worked on different systems like, Ti-alloy, stainless steels, high entropy alloy etc.
