About

Dr. Kunal Singh earned his B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from Kurukshetra University, India, in 2009, followed by an M.Tech. in Thermal Engineering from Thapar University, Patiala, India, in 2011. He completed his Ph.D. in Soft Robotics, developing expertise in intelligent systems and advanced material-based actuation.

With over 11 years of academic and research experience, Dr. Singh has established a multidisciplinary profile spanning mechanical engineering, soft robotics, and advanced manufacturing. He has previously served as an Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering, where he contributed extensively to teaching, curriculum development, and research mentorship, with emphasis on mechatronics, automation, and additive manufacturing.

Currently, he is a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the University at Buffalo, State University of New York, USA. His research focuses on advanced sensing, research instrumentation, and automation for materials characterization and recycling applications. His work integrates spectroscopy, thermal imaging, embedded systems, and intelligent hardware design to develop scalable technologies for sustainable materials processing and resource recovery.

Dr. Singh’s research interests include spectroscopy-based material characterization, plastic and polymer technologies, soft robotics, mechatronics, automation, and additive manufacturing. His work is driven by the goal of translating fundamental scientific principles into practical engineering solutions for sustainable manufacturing and circular economy applications.
