About
Dr. Binoy Kumar Karmakar is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Physics at the University of Calcutta, a position he has held since 2019. He obtained his M.Tech and Ph.D. degrees from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. Before joining the University of Calcutta, he worked as a faculty member at the National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur, for two years.
Dr. Karmakar has been granted two patents: one on maximizing the efficiency of solar PV power systems and another on Smart Home Energy Management. He received the prestigious Keshav K Parhi Award for the best application-oriented M.Tech project, which spanned across multiple departments including Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science, and Information Technology.
In addition to his patents and academic honors, he has authored several technical papers in IEEE journals and international conferences. His primary research interests focus on solar energy integration into smart grids and addressing related technical challenges.
