About

Avdesh Bhardwaj is an interdisciplinary researcher in Environmental Science and Engineering with over two decades of academic and research experience. He is currently a Researcher at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, India. His work lies at the intersection of environmental governance, air quality, solid waste management, climate change mitigation, and public health, with a critical emphasis on biopolitics and necropolitics in environmental decision-making. His research examines how policy choices, governance structures, and institutional neglect shape differential exposure to environmental risks and vulnerabilities in rapidly urbanizing regions of the Global South. He has contributed to peer-reviewed research, policy-oriented studies, and case-based analyses that integrate behavioral theory, systems thinking, and evidence-based policymaking to advance sustainable and equitable rural–urban transitions.
