After finishing school, he enrolled in the Marathwada Agricultural University (MAU), Parbhani to pursue Bachelors’ degree in Agricultural Science. After finishing graduation, he enrolled in the Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidhyapeeth (MPKV), Rahuri to pursue Masters’ degree in Genetics and Plant Breeding. During his M.Sc. the research topic was “Genetic diversity studies in chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.)” with the following objectives:
i. To estimate the genetic divergence between different genotypes.
ii. To group different genotypes in to suitable clusters.
After finishing Masters' degree, he enrolled in the prestigious Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi to pursue Ph. D. in Genetics and Plant Breeding. During his Ph. D. the research topic was “Mapping of Genes and Molecular Diversity Studies of Turcicum Leaf Blight in Maize (Zea mays L.)” with the following objectives:
i. Inbred evaluation and parental polymorphism survey to identify appropriate
inbreds for development of mapping population for TLB in maize.
ii. Identification of additional SSR markers for fine mapping of TLB in maize.
iii. Molecular diversity studies for TLB in maize.
iv. Development of appropriate mapping population to map genes for TLB in maize.
v. Locating and mapping of genes for TLB resistance in maize.
vi. To study the genetics of Turcicum Leaf Blight.
(B) Research Contributions:
He has published several research papers in referred Journals, 2 Books, 15 Popular articles, 6 Book chapters, 6 Review articles, as well as actively participated in 20 Seminar/Symposia/Workshop at national and International level.
