About

I have a wide range of experience in public health research, service, teaching and management across the UK and India. My career has revolved around epidemiological approaches to health and disease, and the application of findings to public health policy and practice. My research work has focussed on understanding how factors operating in early life and through the lifecourse influence adult non-communicable disease. I have obtained grants totalling ~14 million pounds including ~7 million pounds as principal investigator. I have over 100 publications including peer reviewed articles, book chapters, and policy and guideline documents. My public health service experience includes health protection and public health intelligence lead roles. In my teaching role, I have been involved in the development and delivery of undergraduate medical and postgraduate public health curriculum. I have supervised ~25 Specialty Registrars in Public Health, Masters and PhD students, and examined masters and PhD students in both the UK and India. I have led (and continue to lead) multi-disciplinary teams and have been a member and chair of several working groups and committees at various levels. I am a founder member and current secretary of SNEHA-India (Society for the Natal Effects of Health in Adults). My collaborations span across India, the UK, Europe, sub-Saharan Africa, China and North America.
