About
Dr. Vishal Sorathiya is currently serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Parul University, Vadodara, India, since May 2025. Prior to this, he held the position of Assistant Professor in the same department from June 2022 to May 2025. He is also an active member of the Scientific Communication Outreach and Public Engagement (SCOPE) Cell at Parul University, contributing significantly to the university’s academic visibility and outreach initiatives.
Dr. Sorathiya holds a Ph.D. in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Marwadi University, where he also served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information and Communication Technology for over 8 years. He completed his M.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Marwadi Education Foundation’s Group of Institutes (affiliated with GTU, Rajkot) and earned his B.E. in Electronics and Communication from VVP Engineering College (GTU).
With a robust research portfolio, Dr. Sorathiya is actively involved in cutting-edge investigations in antenna design, metamaterial and metasurface structures, photonic crystal-based logic circuits, graphene-based devices, solar energy harvesting, frequency selective surfaces, and the integration of artificial intelligence in photonics. His interdisciplinary work extends to machine learning applications in electronics and photonics.
He has authored over 140 publications in reputed SCI/SCIE/Scopus-indexed journals and conference proceedings, including outlets from Nature, Elsevier, Springer, IEEE, Wiley, IOP, and De Gruyter. He has also contributed six books/book chapters on advanced topics in photonics, THz devices, and machine learning. Several of his innovations have led to patent filings across novel domains.
Dr. Sorathiya has successfully secured research funding of ₹1.76 crore from prestigious funding agencies such as SERB and AICTE-IDEA Lab, further reinforcing his dedication to translational research and innovation-driven development.
He is a recognized contributor to the global academic community, having served as a technical committee member, reviewer, and advisory board member for multiple national and international conferences. He has received accolades including the Honourable Mention Travel Grant Award to attend the IEEE APS-URSI Symposium 2019 in Atlanta, USA.
Beyond academia, he has played a dynamic role in entrepreneurship development as part of the core team at the Entrepreneurship Development Centre, Marwadi University, promoting innovation and institutional/government funding initiatives. He also served as a certified Incubator Manager through the T-Hub Kickstart Program (Cohort 1) and holds the prestigious International Engineering Educator Certificate from IUCEE and IGIP.
His commitment to social impact is evident through his role as an NSS Program Officer, where he led outreach and development activities for adopted villages under Marwadi University’s patronage. Notably, Dr. Sorathiya is also a professional origami artist, demonstrating his passion for creativity and interdisciplinary exploration.
