About
Dr Sarfraz Ahmad, PhD, remained a scholastic student throughout his academic studies. He received graduation and post-graduation (M.Sc. Ag. Genetics and Plant Breeding) degrees from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, India, in 2009 and 2011, respectively, and was the fellow recipient of the ICAR-NTS (National Talent Scholarship). His M.Sc. research work was entitled Pre-harvest sprouting tolerance in mungbean (Vigna radiata). He has more than eight years of research experience in plant genetic improvement. He has contributed significantly to developing cultivars in Corn, cotton, pulses and rapeseed mustard, associating with various private and governmental institutions. During his tenure with Monsanto India Limited and Metahelix Life Sciences Pvt Ltd, Bangalore, he worked for hybrid and cultivar development of Corn and cotton adapted to different ecological zones of India. He was also associated with government institutions, viz. ICAR-CICR (Central Institute for Cotton Research) and Agriculture Research Station (Agriculture University, Kota); and worked for different projects such as Agro-technics for HDPS and surgical cotton; Introgression of genes for CLCuD and whitefly resistance in upland cotton; Isolation of efficient plant mutant with durable resistance to MYMV in blackgram; and MULLaRP (Mungbean, Urdbea, Lentil, Lathyrus, Rajmash, Pea). Recently, he completed a PhD degree (Genetics and Plant Breeding) from S.K.N. Agriculture University, Jobner, India, in 2022. For his doctoral degree, he was awarded the ICAR-SRF (Senior Research Fellowship) from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) New Delhi. Presently, he is working as Young Professional-II under the project AICRP on rapeseed mustard (Taramira) at SKNAU, Jobner, India. He has contributed more than 30 research articles, 20 popular articles, two textbooks and two books chapter. He has participated in several trainings, symposiums, seminars and conferences at national and international levels. He was awarded by “Best Research Scholar Award-2020” during the 4th International Conference on GNRSA; and the “Young Scientist Award-2021” during SABCD-2022 by Agricultural Technology Development Society, Ghaziabad.
