About
I am a Professor at the University of Bologna (UNIBO) and the scientific lead of the Molecular Environmental Microbiology Laboratory (MEMlab). My research focuses on the molecular, genomic, and functional aspects of microbial communities in environmental and applied contexts.
My research activities include the characterization of microbial biomass and diversity, the investigation of interactions between microorganisms and organic and inorganic substrates—including contaminated environments—and the application of molecular and omics-based approaches to environmental and industrial microbiology.
Over the years, my research has resulted in more than 100 peer-reviewed scientific publications in international journals and more than 100 scientific contributions presented at national and international conferences.
In addition to basic research, teaching, and science communication activities, I provide scientific and analytical support for research, development, and consultancy projects across several areas of environmental microbiology.
