About
Dr. Ayodeji Olalekan Salau is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical/Electronics and Computer Engineering, Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria (2022-present). He obtained his B.Eng. degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering from Federal University of Technology Minna, and earned both his MSc and PhD degrees in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University.
Dr. Salau is a registered professional engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), and a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the International Association of Engineers (IAENG). He serves as a reviewer for several reputable international journals and actively contributes to the global research community as a Chair, Co-Chair, and Technical Program Committee member of numerous international conferences.
He has authored four academic books and published over 300 research articles in leading international journals, book series, and conference proceedings. His research interests span computer vision, image processing, signal processing, artificial intelligence, and power systems engineering.
In recognition of his outstanding research contributions, Dr. Salau has received numerous prestigious awards and honors. In 2019, his publication was recognized as the Best Paper of the Year in Cogent Engineering. In 2020, he received the Quarterly Franklin Membership Award from the Editorial Board of London Journals Press for exceptional research output. In the same year, he was honored with the “Best Researcher Award” at the International Research Award on New Science Inventions (NESIN), presented by ScienceFather.
In 2022, Dr. Salau received the International Best Researcher Award from the ISSN International Science and Technology Awards and Congress. He was also recognized by Afe Babalola University with the Best Researcher Award for the 2020–2022 period. According to the 2026 SciVal analysis and ranking, he is ranked among the leading researchers in Nigeria, achieving 6th position among the country’s top 500 researchers.
Dr. Salau was listed among the World’s Top 2% Scientists in the field of Artificial Intelligence by Stanford University and Elsevier in 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026. In 2025, he received the Award of 2nd Position in the category of Best AI Researcher in Higher Education (Universities Category) during the AI Awareness Day celebration organized by the National Association of AI Practitioners in collaboration with the National Universities Commission and Tertiary Education Trust Fund.
More recently, Dr. Salau received the Best Researcher Award at the prestigious International UILA Awards 2025, held in conjunction with the 6th International Conference on Data Analytics and Management organized by London Metropolitan University. He was also recognized as the Outstanding Associate Editor of Frontiers in Bioinformatics for 2025.
