An acknowledged researcher and renowned academician, Dr B V Babu has 37 years of teaching, research, consultancy, and administrative experience (as in 2022). He did his PhD from IIT Bombay. He is currently the Dean of School of Engineering and Sciences (SEAS) at SRM University-AP, Amaravati since 2021. Before that he was Self-Employed as Consultant on Quality Assurance in Higher Education and a World Bank Sponsored Project HEQEP (Higher Education Quality Enhancement Program) (2017-21). Earlier, he was the Vice Chancellor of Graphic Era University-Dehradun (2016-17), Vice Chancellor of Galgotias University-Greater Noida (2014-16), Pro Vice Chancellor of DIT University-Dehradun (2013-14) and founding Director of Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) at JK Lakshmipat University-Jaipur (2011-2013). Prior to that, Dr Babu served at BITS Pilani for 15 years (1996-2011), and held various administrative positions as Dean-Student Welfare Division, Dean-Faculty Division 1, Dean-Educational Hardware Division and Head-Chemical Engineering Department, to name a few. Before that he worked at Gujarat University for 11 years (1985-1996).

Professor Babu is a distinguished academician and an acknowledged researcher with an h-index of 45 & i10-index of 130 and over 9,773 citations (as in August 2022). He is well known, internationally, for his algorithm, MODE (Multi Objective Differential Evolution) and its improved variants. Besides several highly-cited publications in International journals, he also has three well-accepted textbooks (published by Springer, Germany; Apple Academic Press, USA; and Oxford University Press, India) to his credit. He has wide ranging research interests in the areas of Evolutionary Computation (population-based nature-inspired search algorithms for the optimization of complex engineering problems for both single- and multi-objective formulations), Energy Engineering (biomass gasification, pyrolysis, energy integration analysis and process intensification) and Environmental Engineering (low cost adsorbents for removing heavy metals and bio-filtration for removing volatile organic compounds). He supervised 10 PhD candidates and currently guiding 2 PhD candidates. He is PhD Examiner for 21 students & MTech Thesis Examiner for 13 students of IITs, NITs and Universities.

Dr Babu got listed in his discipline with a Ranking of 302 out of 55,687 researchers across the World (Ranking 15th in India), with 81 publications during 1999-2017 in the same list of Top 2% Scientists in the World (Ref: Most coveted list of “World Ranking of Top 2% Scientists; Full List: http://shorturl.at/qHIJ4; Subject-wise List: http://shorturl.at/bdix8). He is the recipient of CSIR's ‘National Technology Day Award’, obtained in recognition of the research work done. He received ‘Kuloor Memorial Award-2006’ awarded for the Best Technical Paper published in the Institute’s Journal “Indian Chemical Engineer” in its issues for 2005. He also received ‘MTC Global Award for Excellence -2015’ and felicitation for being one of the ‘Top 10 Thinkers-2015- Indian Ranking’. He is also the recipient of ‘Best Paper Awards’ in CHEMCON-2000 and CHEMCON-2001 for the papers he presented at the International Symposia & Annual Sessions of Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE). He is the Life Member/Fellow of many professional bodies such as IIChE, IE (I), ISTE, ICCE, IEA, SOM, ISSMO, IIIS, IAENG, SPE, ISTD, etc. He is Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board Member of several International and National Scientific Journals.

He is a member of various national and international academic and administrative committees. He is a Member, FICCI Higher Education Committee, New Delhi; Member, EPSI Committee of Deemed Universities, New Delhi; National Executive Council Member, Centre for Education Growth and Research (CEGR), New Delhi. He was the Chairman-Diploma Board, Member of National Council and also an Executive Member of Indian Society for Training and Development (ISTD), New Delhi. He is the Peer Team Member of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), a statutory body of UGC, New Delhi and served as Chairman, Member Coordinator and Member. He is also member of Peer Review Committee for The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), Canada; National Research Foundation (NRF), International Research Grants, South Africa; Council of Scientific & Industrial Research, New Delhi; and member of Research Project Review Committee, Ministry of Steel, Government of India, New Delhi. He is Peer Team Member (Overseas QA Expert) for various Universities of Bangladesh, appointed by UGC, Government of Bangladesh (GoB) through World Bank Sponsored HEQEP (Higher Education Quality Enhancement Programme) Project.
