About
Dr Santosh Kumar Nanda, born in Barundei, a small village in the district of Jajpur, Odisha, India,
where he completed his schooling (Baitarani Uccha Bidya Pitha, Barundei). He received his B.Sc
(Chemistry Hons) from N.C. Auto. College (Utkal University), Jajpur, M.Sc. degree from Utkal
University and a PhD at IIT Bombay working with Prof. S. J. Gharpure in 2018, for which he has
gotten the BEST THESIS award by NOST-Council, India. Later, he moved to UTSA (University of
Texas, San Antonio), United States (USA) as a post-doctoral research associate under Prof. Dr.
John Cong G. Zaho. Then he joined as an Asst. Prof. in CTUM in the Department of Applied Science and a year later, he
moved to Biocon Bristol Myers Squibb R&D Centre, Syngene, Bengaluru as a Senior Research Investigator. From September-
2023, he is working as an Assistant Professor (Stage-I, OES) in the PG Department of Chemistry, Govt. (Auto) College,
Bhadrak. For research, he is a recipient of a DHE Odisha-funded project under the MRIP-2024 scheme. His research is focused on
the photocatalytic cascade functionalization of carbon-carbon unsaturated systems. He has published many publications,
patents (https://sites.google.com/view/skn-lab/home). He has already written organic books for UG Chemistry students based
on the NEP-2020 programme (Natural products, heterocyclic compounds, nitrogen-containing compounds and
polynuclear hydrocarbons, (Core-IX, semester-V) Chemistry of halogen, oxygen and sulphur-containing organic
compounds, (Core-VI, semester-IV), and Fundamental Organic Chemistry, (Core-II, semester-I).
