About

Sachin is a postdoctoral researcher at Heidelberg University, working in the group of Prof. Dr. Eva Blasco at the Institute for Molecular Systems Engineering and Advanced Materials (IMSEAM). His current research focuses on development of sustainable materials for 3D/4D printing.
Previously he worked as a polymer researcher at the Department of Controlled Macromolecular Synthesis at the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences (IMC-CAS) in Prague, Czech Republic. He obtained his PhD in polymer chemistry from Charles University in collaboration with IMC-CAS in Prague under the supervision of Dr. Vladimír Raus. He obtained his Masters (M.Sc.) and Bachelors (B.Sc.) degrees from University of Delhi in India. Upon completion of his M.Sc. studies, he joined Dabur Research and Development Center (an R&D unit of Dabur India Limited) where he worked on new method developments for the analysis of raw materials, intermediates and finished products of the FMCG (CPG) segments using advance analytical instruments such as GC-MS, ICP-MS, HPLC, GC, etc. Thereafter, he joined as a research scholar at the Chaoyang University of Technology in Taiwan, working mostly on organic synthesis of new monomers/polymers starting from dicyclopentadiene, with application as flame retardants. Additionally, he gained experience in synthesis and application of insect pheromones for agriculture.

In 2019, he was selected for the prestigious UNESCO-IUPAC postgraduate course in polymer science at IMC-CAS in Prague, where he worked on finding alternative initiators for copper-catalyzed reversible-deactivation radical polymerization. In 2020, he started his PhD studies and his research work was focused majorly on devising new strategies for synthesis of polymers from natural substrates with architectural control. He also worked on developing new methods for controlled polymerization of functional monomers (e.g. 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) leading to ultra-high molecular weight polymers in a rapid fashion. On the other hand, he developed new post-polymerization modification strategies of poly(2-isopropenyl-2-oxazoline). Additionally, he worked under Prof. Robin Hutchinson of Queen's University in Canada and Prof. Igor Lacik of Polymer Institute in Slovakia, where his research was focused on kinetic study of radical (co)polymerizations of functional and non-functional monomers.
