About
Ajay did his Ph.D. in Experimental High-Energy Physics (HEP) under the supervision of Prof. R.K. Shivpuri at the Department of Physics, University of Delhi, India (August 2007). Ajay has worked on the “Development of Si strip detector for ECAL of CMS Experiment at CERN, Geneva” in his doctoral work. He did experimental work on the rad-hard Si strip detectors for the SLHC at Helsinki Institute of Physics, Finland under the guidance of Dr. Eija Tuominen. Ajay did his postdoctoral work in the two prestigious projects I. “Development of short strip detector for inner tracking of CMS tracker upgrade for the HL-LHC”, II. “ Development of x-ray p+n Si pixel sensor development for European XFEL at DESY, Hamburg”, Germany (2008-2010).
Ajay did his second postdoctoral work on the “Development of DSSD for Belle2” at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai, India (2011).
After that, he went back into Industry and worked as a Senior Scientist at FEI Company (now known as Thermo Fisher Scientific Instruments), a USA company (2012-2013). Currently, Ajay is working as a Professor in the Department of Physics (UIS), Chandigarh University, Mohali, India. Ajay was the founder and co-founder of many national and international European projects. Ajay has got the DST inspire fellowship/project (2019-2024 from the Ministry of Science and Technology), Govt. of India.
Ajay research falls in the area of Silicon radiation hard particle detector- strip, pixel for high luminosity Collider Experiments (CMS CERN at HL-LHC, BELLE2), and measurements of radioactive contaminations in the groundwater and soil using detectors in a few states of India.

Ajay is a referee of IOP, UK, & IEEE EDL journal, & He involved as a member in many International Experiments and consortium (CMS CERN, CEC CMS) & CERN RD50 Collaborations. Ajay has worked as a co-founder of the CEC CMS CERN project from the University of Hamburg, Germany.
Ajay has published more than 75 research SCI publications as an Author and co-authors and in collaboration, and presented his research work in the international conferences & institutes around the world (Germany, USA, Italy, France, Japan, Croatia, CERN, Geneva, and many more). Recently, Ajay has published one book in International Springer Nature, Cham, Switzerland. Furthermore, Ajay has guided 6 M.Tech VLSI students, 6 M.Sc. Physics Thesis, and currently guiding 3 PhD students.
Ajay has been recognized with several awards, fellowships and honors from different National, International Govt. Agency such as CIMO Fellow, UGC, New Delhi (2005), DST, (RA, Scientist) from Govt. India, Industrial Resident fellow by IMEC, Belgium (2012), DAE RA-3 Honorarium (2011)
RESEARCH INTERESTS :
• Designing and optimization of high voltage semiconductor devices as per the specifications of Si strip, Si pixel, Si drift, and other novel devices using Synopsys TCAD (process and device simulation)
• Radiation damage (surface & Bulk) studies in the Si detectors
• Fabrication of silicon (Fz, MCz) based semiconductor devices (Si strip, Si pixel, Si drift and other novel devices)
• Characterization of semiconductor devices using I-V (current-voltage), C-V (capacitance-voltage), TSC (Thermally Stimulated Current), DLTS (Deep Level Transient Spectroscopy), TCT (Transient Current Technique), CCE using Alibava Systems and other electrical techniques
• pCT for the Cancer therapy
• Search for the Natural Radioactivity in drinking water
• Innovation: Photonics and Nanotechnology-based UV-B LED SVRC chip to kill the COVID-19 virus
