About

I bring a strong background in translational ocular research and microbiology with experience in investigating infectious, inflammatory, and toxicological processes of the ocular surface. I have hands-on experience and knowledge in exploring the ocular microbiome in various ocular pathologies, whole genome sequencing of ocular bacterial pathogens using Oxford Nanopore technology-MINION and screening antimicrobial peptides in the cornea during keratitis. Recently, I published the draft genome sequence of Ochrobactrum anthropi and Mycobacterium tuberculosis isolated from post-operative endophthalmitis.

I have accumulated experience in various aspects. Conference Presentations: I have presented my research findings at national and international conferences, allowing me to disseminate knowledge, receive feedback from experts in the field, and engage in scientific discussions. These presentations have contributed to the exchange of ideas and have facilitated the advancement of scientific knowledge. Mentoring and Supervision: I have mentored postgraduates and undergraduates theory and practical classes on General Microbiology, Clinical Immunology, Medical Microbiology and Diagnostic Microbiology for. I have trained more than 30 candidates (National and International) in molecular and microbiological diagnostic Techniques (PCR, Real Time PCR, DNA sequencing, cell culture techniques, virology etc) students. I was also actively involved in conducting and training clinicians and technical staff for the antimicrobial surveillance program organized by WHO-WHONET 2011& 2013 at L&T Microbiology research center, Vision Research Foundation. Through this role, I have contributed to the education fostering their passion for scientific inquiry and nurturing their research skills. Grant Writing and Funding Acquisition: By carefully designing and articulating research projects, I have demonstrated the scientific merit and potential impact of my work, leading to individual fellowships and financial support for conducting innovative research.
My research approach has always been interdisciplinary, combining clinical presentations and cell biological in vitro approaches. I have a deep understanding of pathogenic microbes and have been extensively involved in profiling the host immune response. With 14 years of experience in handling pathogenic microbes and studying host-pathogen interactions.
