Currently serving as Professor of Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry, Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women with twenty nine years of teaching and thirty five years of research experience. Area of research interest is Phytochemical investigation of medicinal plants including chromatographic and bioassay fractionation guided isolation of active principles and pharmacological studies. Published 78 papers in Journals of National and International repute, 11 books and 3 book reviews. Community oriented activities include publishing over 100 Science articles in local language in an University Magazine named ‘Vignana Chudar’ to popularize science, contribution as programme Officer of National Service Scheme in the University and created durable assets at the adopted village during special camps at the adopted village, organised health, safety and environment awareness programmes for the benefit of the local people of adopted village. Received recognition as mentor of the DST (Department of Science and Technology) INSPIRE programme and received Best NSS programme officer award of Tamil Nadu State NSS cell and Best NSS programme officer award from the host institution.
