With an academic background of M.Tech. in Remote Sensing and Geospatial Technology, he holds a Ph.D. in Agriculture and Food Sustainability from The University of Queensland, Australia. Prior to joining RKMVERI, Dr. Das served as a Postdoctoral Scientist at the Queensland Alliance for Agriculture and Food Innovation (QAAFI), The University of Queensland, Australia, where his research focused on advancing remote sensing and geospatial analytics integrated with statistical and machine learning modeling to predict quantitative agronomic traits in dryland farming systems across tropics and subtropics. Besides, Dr. Das has received several prestigious awards, including the Australian Government International RTP Fellowship (2018), the CAS–TWAS President’s Award (2016) from Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Gandhian Young Technological Innovation Award (2016). He is also an Honorary Individual Fellow of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS), Germany, and a Fellow member of International Association of Gondwana Research (IAGR), China. His interdisciplinary research focuses on the critical intersections of environment, agriculture, climate change, disaster risks, and sustainability. He develops innovative geospatial and AI/ML-enabled decision-support tools to improve agricultural productivity, strengthen food security, enhance environmental resilience, and support sustainable natural resource and disaster risk governance. His expertise spans Remote Sensing, Geospatial Intelligence, quantitative modelling, with applications in Soil–Crop–Environment interactions, Hydro-Climatic extremes, Land–Atmosphere dynamics, the Water–Energy–Land–Food Nexus, Precision Agriculture, Forestry, and urban–regional sustainability. His research contributions closely align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, 14 & 15).
