Kapka Miteva
University of Geneva, Humanitas University, Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin
About
Dr Kapka Miteva, PhD, is a leading scientist at the University of Geneva, where she directs a translational research dedicated to bridging molecular discovery with clinical impact in atherosclerosis. She earned her PhD from Charité – Berlin, Germany, focusing on regenerative therapies for inflammatory cardiomyopathy, and further completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Humanitas Clinical and Research Center in Milan, Italy, supported by the 2016 Gerry Scotti Fellowship—an experience that solidified her translational cardiovascular research experience. Recognized with a Young Investigator Award, Dr. Miteva joined the group of Professor François Mach in the Division of Cardiology at the Foundation for Medical Research, University of Geneva, in 2018. By integrating high-dimensional multi-omic approaches, she elucidates atherosclerosis cell plasticity and plaque vulnerability to identify novel markers and therapeutic targets for cardiovascular prevention. With an H-index of 23, over 1,700 citations, and more than 60 publications, her work has made a contribution to cardiovascular science.
Dr. Miteva’s commitment to bridging discovery with clinical practice extends to her role as an Associate Editor for the European Heart Journal, where she advances cardiovascular science through rigorous peer review and the dissemination of high-quality research. Her editorial contributions to recent impactful trials, alongside her work on proactive lipid management and analyses of international dyslipidaemia guidelines, further demonstrate her dedication to disseminating transformative cardiovascular science targeting clinical challenges.
