About

Prakash I. Gangashetty , lead Scientist- Pigeon Pea breeding at International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), Asia program, based in Hyderabad, India. I did sandwich PhD from the University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, India and University of Wales, Bangor, United Kingdom in Genetics and Plant Breeding. I was one of the recipient of “Monsanto’s Beachell- Borlaug international Scholarship” for the PhD research thesis and Bayer BBISP impact award in 2020 . Earlier to Join lead pigeon pea breeding in India, I have led the pearl millet genetic improvement program for West and Central Africa with main focus for breeding pearl millet varieties and hybrids in Niger, Nigeria, Mali, Burkina Faso, Senegal and Ghana. Currently I am leading the pigeon pea improvement program for Asia .
