Lachhman Das Singla. B.V.Sc. & A.H., M.V.Sc. in Veterinary Parasitology Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), India. Joined Assistant Professor of Veterinary Parasitology in December 1992. Completed Ph.D. Veterinary Parasitology in 2001 and promoted as Associate Professor. Joined as Professor on January 01, 2009. Appointed as Professor-cum-Head, Department of Veterinary Parasitology, College of Veterinary Parasitology, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana, Punjab, India on 20th June 2011. He has 20 years of experience in teaching, research, extension & administration under Punjab Sate Govt., PAU and GADVASU, Ludhiana. His major responsibilities include administration, teaching, research and extension in Veterinary Parasitology; development of socioeconomic programme in tropical parasitic diseases. Major research interests include: Parasite epidemiology, pharmacokinetics, chemotherapeutics, diagnostics, immunomodulatory and immunoprophylactic approaches for the management of parasitic infections. Priority areas include trypanosomosis and other tick borne haematozoa, poultry coccidiosis and wild life parasitic infections. Awards and honours: Besides various oral and poster paper presentation awards, received M.S. Randhawa medal in 2001, Dr. B.V. Rao gold medal in 2002 and Siksha Rattan Puruskar in 2009 for meritorious services, outstanding performance and remarkable role in Veterinary education and research in the field of Veterinary Science. Widely traveled (Australia, Canada, China, Denmark, France, Italy, Nepal, New Zealand, Scotland and Vietnam) for attending various Parasitological and other scientific meetings. Recently, worked as visiting scientist in molecular diagnosis at University of Tennessee, USA. Dr. Singla received international funding from Commonwealth Science Council, London, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Bursary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France Financial Grant and World Association for Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology Scholarships to attend various international scientific meetings.Guided 16 M.V.Sc. and Ph.D. students in the capacity of Major Advisor, Co-major advisor and member of advisory committee in Veterinary Parasitology. Executive council member of Indian Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology (IAAVP). Actively involved in organization of IX (1997) and XIX (2007) National Congresses of Veterinary Parasitology. Besides being fellow of Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (RSTMH), he is a member of various international societies including World Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitolgy from 1995 onwards up to 2011, Society for Conservation of Biology and Rodent, Insectivore & Scandens Conservation and Information Networks of South Asia (RISCINSA). Willing to work tirelessly for the promotion of the discipline of Veterinary Science through encouraging research and promoting exchange of information and material between students, scholars, scientists and organizations by actively participating in various activities.
