About
I am Sakthivel Gandhi, a materials chemist who still believes that science should make you smile before it makes you think. I spend most of my time working with silica, phosphors, nanomaterials, and sensors, and the rest of my time converting all of that into stories, memes, and jokes for my students.
I lead the Hybrid Materials Laboratory, where we try to make materials behave the way we want… and when they don’t, we at least learn something interesting (and occasionally funny). My research travels between energy, environment, and healthcare, but my teaching travels even further, sometimes straight into meme territory.
Whether I am in India at SASTRA University or in Korea chasing new ideas in a lab, one thing stays the same: I enjoy turning complex chemistry into something enjoyable, understandable, and useful. At the end of the day, I am just someone who loves molecules, good coffee, and good humour... preferably in that order.
