About

Dr. Siddharth G. Chatterjee received his Bachelor's Degree in Technology (Honors) from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, and MS and PhD degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, New York, USA, all in Chemical Engineering. He has taught courses on air pollution engineering, water pollution engineering, engineering economics, engineering design, mathematical methods in chemical engineering, numerical methods, ordinary and partial differential equations for engineers and scientists, mass and energy balances, unit process operations, air quality, thermodynamics and heat transfer, bioprocess engineering design, introduction to process engineering, introduction to industrial bioprocessing, and chemical engineering thermodynamics. He has worked in the areas of hydraulic design of tray and packed towers, hydraulic design of mist eliminators and liquid distributor, process and fluid-flow simulation, air and water pollution control, gas absorption, membrane filtration, adsorption, distillation, renewable energy (production of biodiesel and biogas), moisture transport in paper, evaporative cooling, and autohydrolysis of wood. His research interests are in the areas of philosophy of science, air and water pollution control, alternative energy, heat and mass transfer, separation processes, reaction engineering, mathematical modeling, and simulation. He is Associate Professor Emeritus in the Department of Chemical Engineering at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse, New York, USA. He is also a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India), Member of the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers, and served as Adjunct Professor and Visiting Faculty in the School of International Education at Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Beijing, China. He is co-holder of the US patent: Process for Making Biodiesel from Crude Tall Oil, has served as reviewer for and has numerous publications in international journals in diverse areas of chemical engineering, and is the author/coauthor of the following books:
