Dr. Satheesh Naik SJ is a distinguished agricultural scientist specializing in genetics and plant breeding, currently serving as Senior Scientist at ICAR–IARI Regional Station, Pusa, Bihar. With a robust background in varietal improvement, hybrid breeding, genomics and plant genetic resource (PGR) management, he has made significant contributions to crop improvement and sustainable agriculture.
Prior to his tenure at IARI RS Pusa, Dr. Naik was associated with the ICAR–Indian Institute of Pulses Research (IIPR), Kanpur, where he played a pivotal role in advancing pigeonpea breeding strategies. His research has focused on developing high yielding and multiple disease resistant varieties and hybrids, trait discovery, diagnostic markers for resistance to major biotic stresses in pulses, particularly pigeonpea, and enhancing genetic diversity for climate-resilient agriculture.
Dr. Naik has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and is recognized for his collaborative work with national and international institutions.
