About

Prof. (Dr.) Atul Kaushik is an accomplished academician, researcher, and higher-education leader with over 24 years of teaching and research experience, including 15 years of distinguished international service. He has served in key academic leadership roles such as Dean of Academic Affairs & Research Coordinator at Asmara College of Health Sciences, (formerly, Asmara University) Eritrea. Dr. Kaushik holds a PhD from HNB Garhwal University (2008) and a Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from CCS University, Meerut (2001). His scholarly contributions include more than 50 research publications, 4 books, and 4 patents (India and UK), spanning pharmaceutical chemistry, medicinal plant–based drug discovery, and ethnopharmacology.
He has played a pivotal role in curriculum development, research promotion, and scientific validation of traditional medicinal knowledge. He has contributed to prestigious funded research initiatives supported by WHO, ICMR, DST, and DSIR, and has mentored numerous postgraduate students, fostering research that bridges indigenous practices with modern science. He has received a UCOST grant to promote IPR awareness and innovation initiatives and has contributed as a panel expert for several scientific conferences and research evaluation committees. He is also serving as Editor of two scholarly volumes, namely “Traditional Medicine in North East Africa: Research on Traditional Healer Preparations and Medicinal Herbs” (Bentham Science) and “Targeting Drug Resistance with Computational Phytochemistry: A Rational Approach,”
During his tenure in Africa, he was elected President of the Indian Cultural & Welfare Association (ICWA), Asmara, and was invited to present the National Education Policy (NEP-2020) at the Embassy of India, Eritrea —reflecting his leadership and community engagement beyond academics. Dr. Kaushik has served as Chairperson and Member-Secretary on several high-level university bodies, including the University Senate, Faculty Recruitment & Promotion Committee (FRPC), Research & Development Committee, and Boards of Studies. His career exemplifies excellence in research, academic leadership, and international collaboration.
