About
Dr Adarsh Kumar started his research career from Indian Institute of technology, Roorkee (1994-2000) on Cloud Physics, Climate Change, Remote Sensing, Disaster Management and others in line with the recent developments on Atmospheric Sciences. In this endeavor and thrust for aerosol-cloud-climate research, he started working on satellite derived Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD) and cloud optical properties. He also conceived and executed, leading from the front, the field experiments on atmospheric electrical conductivity & aerosol particles during solar eclipse periods of 1995 & 2009, particularly conducted for atmospheric studies in Northern Indian semi urban remote region (Springer, 2010, 2013; Willey Inter science, Atmospheric Science Letters, 2011).
He is instrumental in first ever long-term decadal study of Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD) and cloud parameters over most of the Indian Tropical Land (ITL) regions, which was widely recognized as a published work (2011, Journal of Atmospheric & Solar Terrestrial Physics; Atmospheric Environment, 2013) in Elsevier. He formulated, designed and developed a size segregated multi-wavelength particulate analyzer for the measurements of aerosol particles concentration under different climatic variable conditions. His papers are well cited and published in peer reviewed international journals. He was involved in the indigenous development of the atmospheric conductivity meter for the study of atmospheric ionic spectra under different polluted conditions in various climatic conditions. Dr Kumar has made fundamental contributions to the scientific knowledge of the role of cloud Physics & atmospheric aerosols in modulating the atmospheric electrical conductivity under various climatic conditions of tropical Indian region. He is a reviewer of several journals like Journal of Atmospheric & Solar-Terrestrial Research, Atmospheric Research, Advances in Space Research, Aerosols & Air Quality Research, Indian Journal of Physics, and Indian Journal of Radio & Space Physics etc.
Recently, He was elected as Vice-President of Indian Society of Remote Sensing (ISRS) for a period of 2022-24. At present, he is associated with following professional societies.
• Life Member, Astronautical Society of India (ASI), LM3628
• Life Member, Solar Energy Society of India (SESI), LM/2788/2023
