About

Currently, Sagnik Biswas is a Postdoctoral Researcher at BioMed X, Heidelberg, Germany, where he works on the development of innovative strategies for female-controlled, non-hormonal contraception. His current research focuses on reproductive biology and the development of novel approaches to modulate sperm function and fertilization, with the broader goal of advancing safe, reversible, and non-hormonal contraceptive technologies.

Sagnik Biswas completed his PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the Department of Life Science, Presidency University, Kolkata, West Bengal, India. During the initial phase of his research career, he focused on arsenic-induced hematotoxicity and hepatotoxicity in adult rats, exploring the possible protective roles of various antioxidants and vitamins against arsenic-mediated toxic effects.

Subsequently, his research interest shifted towards reproductive toxicology, particularly arsenic-induced male reproductive dysfunctions in adult rats. His doctoral work extensively investigated the detrimental effects of arsenic on male reproductive health and evaluated the potential ameliorative effects of dietary interventions, specifically casein- and pea-enriched high-protein diets. Through his research, Sagnik contributed to understanding the mechanistic aspects of toxicant-induced reproductive disorders and the therapeutic potential of nutritional modulation in mitigating environmental toxicities.

His broader research interests include reproductive biology, reproductive toxicology, toxicology, sperm physiology, non-hormonal contraception, nutritional therapeutics, endocrine regulation, and translational biomedical research.
