About
I obtained a PhD in area of microfluidics at the Materials Science Department of New University of Lisbon (R&D Centre for Materials Research, CENIMAT/I3N). I have contributed to development of PDMS/SU-8 based microfluidic platforms for (i) colorimetric DNA detection based in DNA-functionalized gold nanoparticles; (ii) micromixing and (iii) label-free single cell analysis based on impedance, refractometry, optical absorption and autofluorescence. The developed bio-microfluidic platform detects single nucleotide mismatches using 10× lower solution volume with lower DNA target concentration when compared to conventional microplate readers, while the developed micromixer is one of the shortest planar passive micromixers reported to date.
I have obtained a BSc. and MSc. degree in Materials Science (MSc. thesis: Nanostructural semiconducting photocatalysts for medical applications) from the Jagiellonian University (Poland; grade: 5/5) and did an internship at University of Vigo (Spain): a practical course ‘Processing and Characterization of New Materials’.
