About

Prof. Subhasish Dutta Gupta joined the School of Physics, University of Hyderabad, India in 1984, having received all his education (Bachelor, Masters and Ph.D) in Moscow, USSR. Along with other core subjects, he has been teaching optics-related courses for undergraduate and graduate students for more than four decades. Moreover, he has been actively involved in research on the forefront areas of nonlinear and quantum optics, plasmonics, and nanooptics. He has authored one US patent, more than 150 papers in peer-reviewed journals, several invited reviews, and book chapters. He has been a visiting faculty member at many reputed institutes, eg., Imperial College, London, University of Rochester, USA, University of Electro-Communications, Tokyo, Oklahoma State University, USA, Nanjing University, China. He served on the editorial board of Pramana–Journal of Physics, and the European Physical Journal–Applied Physics. Currently he holds the honorary position of Adjunct Professor of all centres of TIFR with most of his research and teaching activities at TIFR Hyderabad. He is also the Research Adjunct Professor of IISER Kolata for several years now. He has a very a strong collaboration with theoretical and experimental groups at TIFR Mumbai, IACS Kolkata and IISER Kolkata. He has worked on different facets of optics ranging from single atom lasers, fast and slow light, PT-symmetric systems, etc to reflectionless potentials and spin-orbit interaction with structured light. Along with his IISER Kolkata colleagues he has authored a book designed to motivate young researchers in modern trends in optics.
