About
I am an early career researcher, inquisitive to explore a very niche field on how the olfactory memory is stored in the brain and affected in neurological disease condition. Additionally, of late, I have also grown an strong interest on Neuron-glia interactions and their role in learning and memory. Presently, I am a newly appointed postdoctoral research fellow in Eccles Institute of Neuroscience, Australian National University. I have earned PhD degree from University of Haifa, Israel supervised by Prof. Edi Barkai. In my PhD thesis, I have explored the contribution of inhibitory synaptic modification on learning process and maturation of task specific memory engram using olfaction as model system. I have graduated from University of Calcutta, India with honours in “Human physiology” and post graduated in “Medical Physiology” from Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal, India. Following my post-graduation, I have eleven years of research experience in multiple research institutes and in industry in India and in Canada wining a commonwealth fellowship programme. During this tenure, I have explored diverse avenue in neuroscience research ranging from how Magnocellular Neurosecretary Cell (MNCs) in hypothalamus regulates the osmolarity in the body to a specific neuron or group of neurons control the learning process. Furthermore, during this scientific journey, I was exposed to multiple modern neuroscience techniques, some of which I could mastered of namely animal behaviour, electrophysiology, optogenetics, chemogenetics, imaging and cellular staining.
