About
My experience as Assistant Librarian in early part of my career has helped me to bring the much needed practical approach for my teaching. My strong practical experience came handy to understand the critical complexities of the subject matter and to demonstrate to students the ways of handling nuisances that one might face in professional life. I am known in the Department for my methodical approach, punctuality and perseverance, and hard work. I have tried to inculcate these good traits in my students during my interaction with them inside and/ or outside the classroom. I have taught different subjects for the past seventeen years. I have taken special interest to take the students on educational tours/ library visits on a voluntary basis to expose them to the real-life working environment. In fact, this initiative was largely welcomed by the student community as one of the best practices. I believe that my teaching and my approach in the student seminars, assignments etc., have positively influenced the students in their learning process. This is evident from the fact that the students have consistently rated me high in their teacher assessment. Further I have been invited as resource person for many refresher courses, orientation programs, workshops and other training programmes organized by different institutes and universities in India. Some distinguished departments like the Department of Library and Information Science, Karnatak University, Dharwad have invited me for special lectures. I have developed curriculum for MLISc and MPhil in Library and Information Science in University of Mysore.
Believing that a faculty is to be involved in the development of profession, I have associated myself in the activities of local and regional professional associations. I have played a major role in the formation of Mysore Librarians and Information Scientists Association (MyLISA). MyLISA’s activities are now acclaimed to be one the active professional association with the motto of “think globally and act locally”. Under my stewardship as faculty coordinator for Mysore University Library and Information Science Students Association (MULISSA), I have tried to give a new outlook to the activities of the association by making it more students centric.
