About
Dr. R. Sam Ebenezer is a microbiologist specializing in tuberculosis immunology, with over 9 years of research experience in Immunology, microbiology, molecular techniques, and animal studies. He holds a Ph.D. in Biotechnology from Madurai Kamaraj University, where he explored the immunomodulatory effects of immune complexes in TB. He began his research career at TANUVAS, working on swine fever virus vaccine development. He later contributed to TB diagnostics and training programs at ICMR-NIRT, including validation of the TruNAAT kit and the ECHO model for drug-resistant TB education. A recipient of the prestigious ICMR Post-Doctoral Fellowship (2019), he conducted strain-specific TB immunology research at ICMR-NIRT, Chennai. He has published 20 peer-reviewed articles in leading journals such as Scientific Reports, PlosOne, IJMR, and Frontiers in Microbiology. He is TN-SET-qualified and currently serves as an Assistant Professor (Research) in the Centre for Drug Discovery and Development, Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology. He is trained to work in BSL-3 containment facilities and is skilled in mycobacterial culture and diagnostics assay development. Currently, his research focus is on the development of novel efflux inhibitors associated with TB drug resistance and tailor-made vaccine constructs for TB.
