Currently, I am an Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology, SRM Institute of Science & Technology, Ramapuram, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. I have worked as an Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology, Techno India University, Kolkata, West Bengal, India for 1year and 3 months.
Myself, Madhurima Joardar, Doctorate from School of Environmental Studies, Jadavpur University under the supervision of Dr. Tarit Roychowdhury, Associate Professor of the department. I have recently submitted my PhD Thesis on December, 2022.
I have completed my M-Tech in Environmental Biotechnology in the year 2017 from School of Environmental Studies, Jadavpur University, Kolkata. In my Ph.D program, I was appointed as a ‘Research Fellow (JRF & SRF)’ under a research project entitled “Studies on chronic exposure to arsenic toxicity through food chain and drinking water with respect to rice grain contamination in selected sites of West Bengal and search for mitigation options”, sponsored and funded by ‘Higher Education, Science and Technology and Biotechnology (Science and Technology)’, Government of West Bengal for a period of three years during June 2018 to July 2021. I am also an awardee of “ICSSR (Indian Council of Social Science Research) Centrally-Administered Short-Term Doctoral Fellowship” in the Year 2022-23.
My area of research interests includes groundwater arsenic contamination, groundwater quality indexing, food chain arsenic contamination, effect of arsenic toxicity on human health, arsenic speciation and multi-elemental analysis, human health risk assessment and remediation and mitigation strategies. I have 35 research publications in peer-reviewed International and National journals and Chapter in Books.
