About
Dr. Soumen Mandal is a Principal Scientist at CSIR-Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute, Durgapur, West Bengal, India. He is an Associate Professor at the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR), India. He is a Visiting Researcher at Hiroshima University Japan under Sakura Science Program funded by Japan Science and Technology Agency. He is a fellow of Consultancy Development Center, Govt. of India. He is a Senior Member of IEEE. He is a member of various scientific bodies such as the Indian Science Congress Association, the Institution of Engineers India, and the International Institute of Engineers. He is a member of the Governing Council of “The Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Society, India”. He is a recipient of the IEI-Young Engineers Award from the Institution of Engineers India in Mechanical Engineering in 2019. His research areas include product development focussed on micro-nano systems engineering, AI-assisted intelligent point-of-care device development for healthcare, and flexible electronics. He has led the development of indigenous micro fabrication machines named “Multi Fab” and “Nano Lase” in India and both technologies are licensed to industry. He has catalyzed the foundation of start-ups related to micro manufacturing and the developed machines are currently used by BITS Pilani, NIT Goa, NIT Surat, CoE Pune, NIT Patna, and IIT Bhubaneswar.
