Cathy Rogers (nee Maginnis) is a Lecturer at Charles Sturt University and has been with Charles Sturt University since 1998. Cathy has a Master in Health Science (Nursing), a Bachelor of Applied Science (Nursing), a Graduate Certificate in Child and Adolescent Health Nursing and is a practicing midwife. Cathy is currently undertaking a Graduate Certificate in University Leadership and Management through CSU. Cathy was the Head of Campus at CSU Dubbo campus from 2016-2018 and enjoyed the opportunity to engage with the community and increase the visibility and profile of the university in Dubbo and the surrounding region.
Cathy commenced a role with the Three Rivers University Department of Rural Health as a Lecturer in Rural Health (Clinical Educator) in 2018. This role is focused on providing quality, effective rural placements by supporting students and clinicians in the aim to retain students to engage in further rural placements and to work in rural areas as health professionals. This role also involves sourcing new placements, engaging with communities and providing regional leadership. She is also a Lecturer in Nursing and Midwifery at Charles Sturt University-Dubbo Campus and
She has a passion for nursing and midwifery, providing education and quality placements for rural students, an interest in researching rural issues especially surrounding students and nurses in rural areas as well as workplace learning. She has been fortunate to take Bachelor of Nursing students on international workplace learning placements in Thailand and Peru and has an interest in researching this aspect of learning and culture shock as well as the role of a facilitator.
