About

My research program focuses on mechanisms underlying development of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases in the obese population such that new therapeutic interventions may be developed. Our studies seek to explore the interactions between sleep, nutrition, and obesity-related cardiometabolic disorders. Over the last 17 years, I have successfully integrated my molecular biology training with translational sleep and obesity research and have gained extensive experience in conducting and leading sleep and nutrition centered clinical trials. We are comprehensively examining the contribution of obesity, sleep apnea, and sleep duration to cardiovascular and metabolic diseases using in-vitro, clinical, and longitudinal approaches.
