About

I am Niranjan Kumar, currently holding the position of Professor since 2025, and deeply immersed in the realms of teaching, research, and diagnostic activities centred around Animal Parasites. I began my journey as an Assistant Professor on March 23, 2009, in the Department of Veterinary Parasitology at the College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry in Navsari-396450. This esteemed institution is a distinguished part of Kamdhenu University, renowned as a leading veterinary university in Gujarat, India. I pursued my M.V.Sc. and Ph.D. in Veterinary Parasitology at the illustrious ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute, a distinguished Deemed University located in Izatnagar, India. This institution is globally celebrated for its eminence in veterinary and animal sciences. Throughout my academic odyssey, I have showcased exceptional proficiency by excelling in various national-level examinations. I proudly bear certifications that include ICAR-JRF, ICAR-SRF, ICAR-NET, CSIR-JRF/NET, and ICAR-SRF, all of which bear testament to my comprehensive knowledge and resolute dedication to the domain of Veterinary Parasitology and Life Sciences. I have served as a key player in numerous projects endorsed by my parent University, assuming roles such as Principal Investigator (in five institutional projects), Co-Investigator, and Associated Member. These projects are pivotal in advancing the diagnosis and treatment of Animal Parasitic diseases, underscoring my commitment to the welfare of animals and the agricultural industry. In my capacity as a mentor, I have sculpted the careers of five M.V.Sc. students specializing in Parasitology, in addition to acting as a co-guide for 11 postgraduate students pursuing diverse subjects within the realm of Veterinary Science. Acknowledged for my indelible contributions to the profession, I have been the recipient of numerous awards including Prof. M.B. Mirza Award in 2012 by The Indian Society for Parasitology. My expertise extends into the realms of academic publication, where I have authored over 30 research articles in esteemed national/ international journals. In addition, I have penned three scholarly books and assumed editorial responsibilities for one compendium. My commitment to disseminating knowledge is further manifested in my presentation of more than 40 scientific abstracts at annual symposia and conferences. I have also been sharing my insights and expertise at scientific conferences and training sessions. My contributions continue to shape the future of this critical field.
Research interest: Classical/ Molecular Veterinary Parasitology (Helminthology, Entomology and Protozoology), Wildlife Parasitology, Veterinary Science, Molecular Biology, Immunology and Vaccinology.
M.V.Sc Thesis Title: - “Immunodiagnosis of fasciolosis in buffaloes: Evaluation of ELISA and dot-ELISA using affinity purified antigens.”
Ph.D Thesis Title:- “Immuno-prophylactic evaluation of Fasciola gigantica fatty acid binding protein and glutathione S-transferase in buffaloes.”
