About

Dr. Susmita Mitra is currently working as Assistant Professor in Council for Social Development (CSD), New Delhi. Apart from doing research work she is also the coordinator of the short term 'Training Course on Research Methodology in Social Sciences' in CSD.

Currently she has 13 peer reviewed international/national publications and conference proceedings including the one that received best paper award in the 2nd International Conference on Recent Developments in Science, Engineering and Technology (REDSET 2015). She has presented her papers in a number of national and international conferences and also participated in the UNCTAD workshop on empirical research.

She has completed her Ph.D in Economics from Centre for International Trade and Development (CITD), Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in 2013 (“Mitigating Greenhouse Gases through Emissions Trading: A Theoretical Analysis” under the supervision of Dr. Aparna Sawhney). As a student she has been awarded Junior Visiting Fellowship (2011) under the UNCTAD vi DAAD programme at the HTW (University of Applied Sciences), Berlin, Germany; Junior and Senior Research Fellowship (2006 - 2011) in National Entrance Test (NET); and Ford Foundation Scholarship for topping two consecutive semesters during M.A. in Economics in JNU (2003 - 2005).

Before Joining CSD in July, 2014, she worked as a Consultant with National Institute of Public Finance and Policy (NIPFP). She has also done various part time and full time research assistantships for International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), Reserve bank of India (RBI) and NIPFP projects. Apart from research experience, she has been the academic proof-reader for the Berlin Working Papers on Money, Trade, Finance and Development series in 2013; and tutor for University Grant Commission (UGC) remedial classes in Statistics and Econometrics for the M.A. first year students at CITD, JNU, for two years 2009 and 2010.
