About

Senior Scientist| Molecular Breeder | Genomics | Quantitative Genetics | Data Science | Trait Discovery | Selection and Pipeline Design | Leader | Problem Solver

Lead genomic selection programs in cereals, cotton, and vegetables. Experienced in integrating conventional and genomic breeding approaches, including NGS analysis, GWAS/QTL mapping, and marker-assisted selection for improving rice disease resistance (blast, BLB and cotton ball worm).Proven experience in genetic mapping and SNP marker development (fertility restoration genes in sorghum), along with multi-environment field trial analysis and predictive breeding. Worked as a visiting scientist in Genomics Trait Discovery at ICRISAT. Experienced in Plant breeding, QTL mapping, Fine mapping, Genetic mapping, Genome-wide association studies (GWAS), Feild plan layout, Statistical data analysis, bioinformatics, marker-assisted backcrossing, Usage of advanced Phenomics, genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, epigenomics technologies for crop improvement.
Awarded Postdoctoral fellowship from DST-SERB N-PDF and gained knowledge on gene expression technologies at ICRISAT.
Awarderd PhD in Genetics from Osmania University worked with Proff P B Kavi Kishor and at ICRISAT, Head Quarter – Patancheru, Hyderabad. As ICRISAT is an international institute, I know and value the excellent education, follow international standards.
My research interests have been fostered by several years of research experience in molecular breeding work in sorghum genomic at ICRISAT, dry land cereals programme mentoring by C T Hash, Santosh P Deshpande. I have experience in molecular laboratory work, handling large data sets, Data analytics, data representation, candidate gene assessment and functional pathway analysis.
Guided many students for molecular wok principles and techniques.
My PhD research has focused upon Fine genetic mapping of shoot fly and stay green QTLs on sorghum chromosome SBI-10. Here we are pyramiding three QTLs also which is a breeding material for breeders and farmers future use.
The research in this field is my privilege to dig out candidate genes underlying the QTLs using microsatellite markers as well as SNP data generated from GBS. My post-graduate experiences have reinforced my appreciation for agricultural biotechnology field and helped me to enter in molecular breeding work as I have done diversity in tobacco species.
My research experience as a research technician (2008-2011) at ICRISAT, Patancheru for three years was so informative and learned a wide range of genomics work on sorghum.
Altogether expertise in genomics, transcriptomics and plant breeding
