About

Dr. Dhrubajyoti Mondal was born in West Bengal, India, in 1989. He completed his Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination in 2006 with First Division, securing 7th rank at Visva-Bharati. In 2009, he graduated with a B.Sc. (Honours) in Chemistry with First Division, securing 2nd rank from the same university. In the same year, he qualified the Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. (JAM) conducted by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and joined the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) to pursue his M.Sc. in Chemistry.

In December 2010, Dr. Mondal qualified the CSIR–UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) and was awarded the prestigious CSIR Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). After completing his M.Sc. in 2011, he joined the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS), Kolkata, as a Junior Research Fellow under the supervision of Prof. Muktimoy Chaudhury. He received his Ph.D. in 2017 in the field of transition metal-based coordination and bio-inspired inorganic chemistry. During his doctoral research, he published several high-quality research articles in leading national and international peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. Mondal began his academic career in 2017 as a Guest Lecturer at Lady Brabourne College, University of Calcutta. In January 2018, he joined the Academy of Technology, affiliated with Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), as an Assistant Professor and served there until December 2019. He secured 8th rank in the West Bengal Public Service Commission (WBPSC) examination and interview for the post of Assistant Professor in Chemistry. Subsequently, he joined Government General Degree College, Mangalkote, under The University of Burdwan, where he served as an Assistant Professor from December 2019 to July 2021. He also qualified the West Bengal College Service Commission (WBCSC) interview in 2020 and was selected for the post of Assistant Professor in Chemistry at Sree Chaitanya College, affiliated with West Bengal State University.

Since July 2021, Dr. Mondal has been serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, Visva-Bharati. His research lies at the interface of coordination chemistry and bio-inspired inorganic chemistry, with a particular emphasis on the design and synthesis of transition metal complexes and the elucidation of their structure–property relationships. His current research interests include small-molecule activation, high-valent metal–oxo complexes, redox-active (non-innocent) ligand systems, molecular magnetism, and multinuclear metal complexes, with applications in catalysis, bioinorganic chemistry, and functional materials.
