About

Dr. Faheem Ahmad is a distinguished Senior Assistant Professor in the Department of Botany at the Faculty of Life Sciences, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), India. With a career dedicated to advancing the fields of plant pathology and nematology. Dr. Ahmad has established himself as a leading researcher in sustainable crop protection, specifically focusing on the management of root-knot nematodes through innovative & sustainable approaches.

Academic and Professional Journey
Dr Ahmad earned his PhD in Plant Pathology & Nematology from AMU in 2009. His quest for global scientific exposure led to a series of prestigious postdoctoral appointments across three continents. He served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at National Sun Yat-Sen University in Taiwan, a Foreign Researcher at Ege University in Türkiye, a Postdoctoral Fellow at North-West University in South Africa, and finally as a JSPS-funded Postdoctoral Research Associate at Ehime University in Japan. This extensive international training has profoundly shaped his interdisciplinary approach, integrating classical plant pathology with advanced bioanalytical chemistry and nanotechnology.

Research Contributions and Leadership
Dr. Ahmad’s research is characterized by a strong commitment to understanding plant-parasitic nematode interactions and developing biorational management strategies. He has successfully secured major research grants as a Principal Investigator from prestigious Indian agencies, including the Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB) and the University Grants Commission (UGC), as well as international bodies such as the National Research Foundation (NRF) of South Africa and TUBITAK of Türkiye.

Editorial and Mentorship Role
Dr. Ahmad plays an active role in the scientific community as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Plant Diseases and Protection (Springer) and an Academic Editor for PeerJ Life & Environment. He has successfully supervised doctoral and master's students, fostering the next generation of plant scientists.

Publications and Recognition
An extremely prolific author, Dr. Ahmad has published over 60 peer-reviewed scientific papers in high-impact journals (including Biosensors and Bioelectronics, Green Chemistry Letters and Reviews, and Journal of Plant Physiology), co-edited 9 influential books with major publishers (CRC Press, Springer-Nature), and contributed numerous book chapters. His scholarly impact is reflected in multiple awards, including the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Best Scientist Award (2022) , the Best Young Scientist Award (2019) , and the Young Scientist Award from SERB (2013) .

Through his teaching, research, and leadership, Dr. Faheem Ahmad continues to drive innovation in sustainable agriculture, bridging the gap between fundamental plant science and practical solutions for food security.
