Distinguished Career in Veterinary Science

Professor (Dr.) Sarvajeet Yadav, hailing from rural Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, has dedicated over three decades to veterinary science. He earned his B.V.Sc. & A.H., M.V.Sc., and Ph.D. at the College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Mathura, under C.S. Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, completing his studies in 1988, 1990, and 1997 respectively. Beginning as an Assistant Professor in 1991, he rose to Professor status by 2008, accumulating wide-ranging experience in teaching, research, extension, and administration. His leadership roles include Director of Extension, Director of Para-veterinary Institute, Head of Department, Additional Director of Research, Estate Officer, NCC Caretaker Officer, and Hostel Superintendent.
Professor Yadav has mentored numerous postgraduate and doctoral students, guiding three Ph.D. and eight M.V.Sc. candidates, and co-guiding four more in semen biology. He has also advised over 20 postgraduate and doctoral research projects. Renowned for his research in semen biology and adaptation physiology, he has published more than 100 research papers, published eight scientific books and six Hindi booklets, and served as Chief Editor of the university’s Pashudhan Patrika for eight years.
His achievements include securing over Rs. 25 crores in funding for research, extension, and infrastructure, and developing advanced facilities in Semen Biology, Embryo Transfer Technology, and Bioclimatology. Professor Yadav’s team has pioneered cryopreservation technology and a dilutor for buck semen, facilitating widespread artificial insemination (AI) and cryo-banking. Training programs under his supervision have benefited over 1000 veterinarians, 1200 para-veterinary staff, and 4,000 farmers, while his “Pashu Gyan Chaupal” model and partnerships with NGOs have advanced goat farming practices across 14 Indian states.
Serving on academic councils and selection boards, and as an advisor or examiner for various institutions, Professor Yadav has upheld high standards in veterinary education. His accolades include numerous national awards and fellowships, recognizing his enduring contributions to animal welfare and veterinary science.
