About
Dr. Saddam Sk is a materials chemist specializing in electrocatalysis, photocatalysis and hydrogen energy conversion. His research focuses on the rational design of non-precious metal catalysts and their integration into membrane electrode assembly (MEA) systems for Anion Exchange Membrane (AEM) water electrolysis.
He completed his PhD in Chemical Science, where his work centered on metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), covalent organic frameworks (COFs), and their hybrid composites as photo(electro)catalysts for energy conversion. His research involved defect engineering, heterostructure design, and detailed structure–performance correlation using advanced spectroscopic and electrochemical techniques. He has contributed to the development of several high-performance catalyst systems with improved activity and stability.
Building on this foundation, his current research extends toward practical device-level applications. He is actively working on interface-engineered catalyst systems for efficient hydrogen production, with emphasis on catalyst layer optimization, charge transfer control, and long-term durability in MEA-based AEM electrolyzers. His work also includes the development of hydrogen stack components, system integration, and performance validation in collaboration with industry.
Dr. Sk’s research aims to bridge the gap between fundamental materials chemistry and scalable energy technologies. His long-term goal is to develop cost-effective, durable, and industrially relevant hydrogen production systems based on non-noble metal catalysts, advancing sustainable, clean energy solutions.
He is interested in collaborative research in electrocatalysis, AEM water electrolysis, advanced functional materials, and hydrogen energy systems.
