About

Area of Research: Biotechnology, Molecular Physiology, Bioinformatics, Molecular Genetics, Environmental Toxicology, and Aquaculture. He completed 26 years of teaching and 34 years of research experience.
Research Accomplishments: Guided 23 PhDs, 7 M.Phil’s, Authored 3 books, contributed chapters for 7 books, and published 176 research papers in National and International reputed Journals. He presented his research works at International Conference on Acidic Precipitation held in Toronto, Canada in Sept. 1985 and at the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology Annual Meeting in the USA (1988), besides presenting his Research works in more than 100 papers in conferences. He was selected for the Indian Govt. Fellowship to study in the USA (1986-89) and received Rockefeller Foundation Biotechnology Career Award, USA in 1993. Visited Countries: USA (1986-89;1994;1995;1996), Canada (1985), UK (1985;2010;2011), Scotland (2010;2011), Singapore (1995;1996), Sri Lanka (2016), Ukraine (2017), Malaysia (2017) and Brazil (2018) for Scientific training and research collaboration. Organized International satellite conference in Biotechnology (2003), Convener for South Zone Vice-Chancellor's Conference (2002). Projects: Received Rs. 9.90 Crores grant on Medicinal Plants for two years (2018-2020) from DBT, New Delhi. Handled 5 projects funded by various funding agencies with a total cost of Rs. 111.46 lakhs.
Member Scientific Bodies: Editorial Board Member for Journal of Ecology and Fisheries, 2009. Chairman for Institutional Ethical Committee, Narayana Medical College and Hospital, Nellore, 2013 and Yogi Vemana University, Kadapa, 2012. Served as Member of Institutional Ethical Committee, NIMS, Hyderabad (2005-09); BOS Chairman for Zoology in DU and VSU.
Awards: 1. Received Award of Best Researcher in Healthcare from Andhra Pradesh - 2017 from Worldwide Achievers and International Healthcare Summit, New Delhi. 2. Received Lifetime Achievement Award in Animal Biotechnology- 2017 by Venus International Foundation, Chennai. 3. Received Excellence Award for Religious Harmony-2016 by MADIN Academy, Kerala. 4. State Best Teacher Award from AP State Govt.-2015. 5. Research Excellence Award- 2013. 6. National Award for Teaching Excellence in Zoology-2013 by Indus Foundation, USA & India.7. Outstanding Faculty of the Year Award- 2013, by Branding Faculty Awards, New Delhi.8. B.S. Chauhan Gold Medal Award-2012 by the ZSI. 9. Best Teaching Excellence Award by S.V. University, 2009.10.

Academic & Administrative positions: BOS Chairman for Zoology, SVU (2018-19); BOS Chairman for Animal Biotechnology (2018-2019). Worked as Rector, SVU (2016-2018). Co-ordinator for M.Sc., Animal Biotechnology (UGC Innovative Programme, 2011-2016), Organizing Secretary for ISCAP (2012-15), Co-ordinator for UGC–SAP (2013-17). Served as Co-ordinator for M.Sc., Biotechnology and Bioinformatics at SVIMS (2002-04), Registrar I/c of SVIMS (2001-04) and Executive Registrar of NIMS (2004),
Recognitions: Recived Doctorate Degree from Maharishi European Research University, Seelisberg, Switzerland for World Peace in 2018. Research work on diabetes in relation to polymorhphism in Human Glucokinase enzyme was recognized by GenBank and in silico Pyrimidine derivatives designed by us by Pubchem.
