About
I am currently working in the field of insect behaviour and the management of insect pests. I have two Ph.D. students who are working with me to explore various feeding and mating behavioural patterns of an aphidophagous coccinellid beetle, Menochilus sexmaculatus and a phytophagous chrysomelid beetle, Zygogramma bicolorata. During the past one year of research work, we have unveiled the presence of food resource polymorphism as a strategy to overcome intraspecific competition in both the beetles. Besides, we have shown that under food fluctuating conditions, both the beetles exhibit compensatory feeding so as to nullify the adverse effects of scarce food availability; and have published these findings in national and international journals. In the coming years, we would be focusing on the presence of anti-microbial peptides in the hemolymph of these beetles so that both the experimental models may be exploited in future to produce the pharmaceutical products.
