About
Dr. Manoj Kumar is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Mohali. He holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi.
Dr. Kumar began his academic career at the Central University of Haryana, where he served for seven years and mentored approximately 80 M.Sc. dissertations. He subsequently joined IISER Mohali, after which he gained additional teaching experience at IISER Thiruvananthapuram from September 2024 to April 2025. He has since rejoined IISER Mohali, where he continues his teaching and research activities.
His research focuses on drinking water contamination from groundwater sources, with particular emphasis on arsenic and fluoride geochemistry and their implications for public health. His work has received national and international recognition, including the prestigious Crawford Fund Fellowship (2013). Through his research, teaching, and mentorship, Dr. Kumar continues to make significant contributions to environmental science and water-quality research.
