About
José Carlos holds a Master's and a PhD in Microbiology with an emphasis on Virology from the Federal University of Minas Gerais and a Biology degree from the Federal University of Viçosa. He is currently Associate Professor IV in the Department of Chemistry, Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering at the Federal University of São João del-Rei. He is the coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Bioprocess Engineering and Biotechnology at UFSJ and develops research in the areas of Microbiology, Virology and Biotechnology, working with prospecting for antivirals, antibacterials and antifungals. He researches cytotoxic effects and selectivity of antimicrobial and antiviral compounds in mammalian cell cultures and animal models (in silico, in vitro and in vivo research). His children are Maria Clara, Francisco and Rafaela.
